UCI offers different campus options including traditional residence halls, undergraduate theme houses, graduate apartments, and Apartment Communities privately operated by American Campus Communities.

On-Campus Housing

Explore the following links to learn about application processes, important dates, and announcements for on-campus housing. 

  • Rental Rights Information
    • Housing contacts: you will find sample documents that outline the terms and conditions of a rental arrangement between a landlord and a tenant.
    • Policies and student conduct: Learn more about student conduct, responsibilities, and rights as a resident of UCI housing. 
    • UCI Office of the Ombuds: provides a safe and comfortable environment to discuss complaints, concerns or problems confidentially, including on-campus housing disputes.

Off-Campus Housing

  • Rental rights and legal information
    • Landlord/ Tenants rights: Learn more about rights that serve to protect both the landlord and the tenant and ensure a fair and just rental relationship.
    • Community legal Aid SoCal: provide legal assistance to low-income community members on landlord/Tenant Issues, ​​Housing Discrimination, Substandard Housing, etc. 
    • Lawyer Referral & Information Service (LRIS): is a non-profit legal referral service in Orange County with an administrative fee of $25 for your first referral in one area of law. 
  • Tips for Subletting:

Subletting refers to the act of a tenant renting out their rented space to someone else.

  • 1: If living on-campus, contact your community housing office to learn more about subleasing your apartment.
  • 2: Find someone to sublet your apartment. Use the off-campus housing search links to make a particular post about the place you want someone to sublet.
    • Make sure to introduce yourself, the community name, price, floor plan, qualifications (only male/female), and sublet fee (optional). 
  • 3: Once you have found an eligible resident, contact your assigned community housing office. They will assist you with forms that you need to fill out.

  • Commuter resources:
    • Commuter Lounge: This place provides a space to rest and heat homemade meals. It also allows students to rent lockers – to help lighten students’ load. 
Transportation

Learn more about resources that will help you transport whether you live on or off-campus.

  • On-Campus Transportation:
    • transLoc app: This application will allow you to find the Anteater express bus stops and will provide estimated arrival times.
    • Live Bus Tracking
  • Off-Campus Transportation:
    • OCTA University Pass: it’s a $169 pass with the benefit of unlimited regular service on OC Bus shuttles.
    • OC Bus app: a way to purchase a single ride, a day pass, or a 30-Day pass.
    • Transit: provides you with a real-time transit arrival. 
    • Moovit: allows you to see the entire schedules of your designed bus.
    • Carpool: UCI offers a carpool program for employees and graduates students living outside the Irvine boundary. 
    • Vanpool: it’s an alternative form of transportation available to staff, faculty, and currently enrolled UC Irvine students.
    • Train: UCI provides a summary of trains you may access from different locations to UCI. 
    • Zipcar: This is a carshare program where students can rent a car by hour or day.
