What is CalFresh?

CalFresh is a nutrition assistance program sponsored by the USDA that helps people purchase healthy foods.
The program issues monthly electronic benefits on an EBT card that can be used at most grocery stores!

Section 1


Students can get CalFresh if they are a
US citizen or Legal Permanent Resident*
and meet one of the following criteria:
  • Employed at least 20 hrs/week
  • Enrolled in/receiving work-study or a similar program
  • Receive CalGrant A/B
  • Care for a child age 12 or under
  • Do not plan to register for the next school term
*non-US citizens/students who do not have
Legal Permanent Residence status or immigration documentation qualify for The Emergency Meal Swipe Program.

Required Documents:

  1. Valid ID proof of income
  2. Financial aid award letter
  3. Social Security number
  4. Proof of living expenses
